The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta: the big church with three aisles changed in structure during the centuries, but its present structure dates back to 1008. Inside we can admire the mosaic floor dating back to the 11th century, the wooden crucifix and a bizantine pulpit made with material taken from the ruins of Altino. On the back wall there is a mosaic representing " The Apotheosis of Christ" and the "Last judgement" of the 12th and 13th centuries, of the Veneto-Byzantine school like the mosaics of Saint Mark’s.
